Teachers / Students
Students undertaking vocational education subjects for the HSC must complete 70 hours over 2 years of mandatory structured workplace learning at real or simulated worksites. Sydney Business Education Partnerships work with high schools, TAFEs and employers in our region to find quality workplacements for our students.
Workplacement Procedures and Documents
This section contains all workplacement documents available to be downloaded by teachers and students. The documents below are necessary for teachers and VET students to successfully undertake Structured Workplace Learning.
1. Student Workplacement Registration Form 2012 - Every VET student MUST fully complete and sign-off a Workplacement Registration Form as authorisation for Sydney BEP to arrange workplacements.

2. Students "Self Sourced Workplacement" PACKAGE of DOCUMENTS - Students wishing to find their own worksite must take the following package to their employer and have the Insurance document completed and signed. The package contains Host Employer Registration/ Insurance Form and An Introductory Letter to Host Employers. You MUST also take an Employers Guide Workplace Learning (DET document) No. 13 or (CEO document) No. 14 as appropriate.
3. Student Placement Record (DET schools) - package of 4 pages. Page 1 MUST be fully completed by student and school. Page 4 needs to be completed by parent and employer before workplacement (Insurance sign-off).
4. Student Placement Record (CEO schools) - package of 3 pages. Page 1 MUST be fully completed by student, school, parent and employer before workplacement (Insurance Sign-off).
5. Teacher Hints - Preparing Students for Workplacements - Checklist and tips for teachers to assist their students, before going on each workplacement.
6. Important Tips for Workplacement students - what to expect when you go on the worksite. Follow the checklist carefully for a successful workplacement experience.
7. Suggested Telephone Techniques - tips and 'fill n sheet' to assist students, when phoning host employers to confirm their workplacements 1-2 weeks prior to attending work.
8. Teacher's Checklist - Spreadsheet to assist VET teachers in organising pre and post Workplacement information for their class.
9. Consent to Reproduce Photograph/ Video Images - Students under the age of 18 must ask parents/ care givers to sign the form, before any photograph using a student's image can be published. Photos may be used for publicity purposes for Sydney BEP.
10. Safety and Emergency Procedures - Safety and emergency procedures are outlined. A 'cut out' emergency card, including safety procedures is included. The card should be taken daily to worksite and worn inside student's name tag.
11. Student Workplacement Feedback Sheet - Student MUST accurately complete form after each placement as feedback and to assist Sydney BEP with future placements. Fax to 9666 8065.
12. Teacher Evaluation of Workplacements - VET staff MUST complete table after class has finished workplacement to assist with future placements. Fax to 9666 8065.
13. DET "An Employer's Guide to Workplace Learning 2011" - Students (DET and Independent Schools) who 'self source' employers MUST take a copy of this booklet along with the Host Employers Insurance form to the employer. Students should also take document no. 16 “An Introductory Letter to Host Employers” to the employer.
14. CEO "An Employer's Guide to Workplace Learning" - The booklet contains all the information an employer needs for hosting workplacement and work experience students.
15. CEO Insurance Certificate of Currency 2012 - This should be sent out to employers with Document 14, especially for student self sourcing worksites.
16. An Introductory Letter to Host Employers - Students who self source employers should take this to the employer, so the employer is aware of what structured workplace learning (Workplacement) involves.
